What the free scan checks
- Whether each of the five AI engines recommends your store when asked real buying questions for the category you sell in.
- How many engines recommend you, and how many name a competitor instead. The count is shown; which engine is which unlocks with the app.
- Where you rank in the answer when you are recommended, and who wins the recommendation when you are not.
- A SHA-256 hash and UTC timestamp for every captured answer, so the record can be verified later.
How the scan works
- Tell us what you sell. Enter your brand name, website, and one product category. The scan writes three buyer-intent questions a shopper would ask about that category.
- Five AI engines go shopping. Each question is sent to ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, and Google AI results, one answer each, and every answer is captured with a SHA-256 hash and timestamp.
- A judge reads every answer. An LLM judge extracts whether you were recommended, at what rank, and who was recommended instead. You see how many engines recommend you immediately; the per-question breakdown unlocks with your email.
What you get
Immediately: how many of the five engines recommend you and a recommendation score across all answers. After you enter your email: each buying question with a sample answer, whether you were recommended or who beat you, and the SHA-256 hash and timestamp for each capture. Which engine gave which answer, and weekly re-runs with price and stock truth-checks, are what ShopBird in the PositionBird app adds.
Questions about the free scan
Is it really free?
Yes. The scan runs without an account, a card, or an email address. Only the per-question breakdown asks for your email, and which engines recommended you is revealed inside the PositionBird Shopify app.
Which AI engines does it use?
All five that ShopBird monitors: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, and Google AI results. The free scan asks each engine three buying questions once, up to fifteen answers in total. The paid ShopBird monitor repeats the whole query set weekly with multiple samples per question.
Is this what shoppers actually see?
Close, but not identical. We query each engine through its API rather than the consumer chat app, so wording and even the recommendations can differ from what a shopper sees in the app, and AI answers vary from one ask to the next. Treat the scan as a one-off snapshot, not a verdict.
What happens to my email and results?
If you unlock the breakdown, we store your email with the scan results so we can send them to you and tell you when PositionBird launches on the Shopify App Store. We record the exact consent wording and the time you gave it, we do not sell or share the address, and we delete it on request, as described in our privacy policy.
